    These lecture series will analyze how Rabbinic, Normative and Contemporary Judaism understand the biblical major and minor prophets compared to how New Testament writers understood them in the first century. Classes will focus on the following themes:   Biblical Prophets: Purpose and Canonization Prophets: Fortune Teller or Moral Compass? Prophets: Cantankerous or Perpetual Spiritual Sufferers? New Testament Writers: True Believers of Biblical Prophets or Exegetical Masters? Prophetic Literature and Liturgy Class led by Rabbi Wright, taught at Independent Presbyterian Church.

At this program, we’ll dive deep into the current situation in Israel and it’s impact on the life-saving work of Leket Israel. Leket Israel, the National Food Bank and leading food rescue organization in Israel, is uniquely committed to redistributing surplus, nutritious food to all those in need across Israel. In 2024 alone, Leket Israel provided over 2 million hot meals to people in need, rescued over 69 million pounds of agricultural produce, and fed over 400,000 people weekly! Leket Israel has been a partner of the Birmingham Jewish Federation’s Israel World Jewry Bureau (IWJB) committee since 2006. Please bring your own Kosher or Kosher-style lunch.
