Celebrate the spirit of the Beth El Civil Rights Experience! Join us Friday, March 15, at 4:30 p.m. for a musical Kabbalat Shabbat service featuring the Miles College Golden Voices, a choir that exudes culture, class and civility through music. The Golden Voices have performed at high-profile events across the nation, and we are delighted to welcome them to TBE! We’ll kick off with a musical workshop led by members of the choir, which will include reflections from students on their roles in the choir, as well as an interactive singing exercise. Workshop will be followed by our regular Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat service that begins at 5:45 p.m. After the service, we invite you to a chicken pot pie dinner. Registration is required for dinner and seats are limited. Register here. The choir will be joining us for dinner, as well as two out-of-state groups visiting us as part of the Beth El Civil Rights Experience. Join us for this inter-disciplinary teacher workshop, facilitated by Sheryl Ochayon, a leader in the field of Holocaust education from Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem. Broken into four distinct sessions, this workshop will explore the Final Solution through a variety of different lenses, as well as the spirit of human resilience during atrocity. This teacher workshop is free for all Alabama educators. You will earn four hours of PowerSchool professional development credit, a certificate of completion, and lunch is provided.
