    Join us for 3 Thursdays in September for a fun and engaging introduction to the world of Mahjong! Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this class is designed to teach you the fundamentals of this beloved game. In this hands-on 3 part series, you'll learn the basics of gameplay, including the rules, the tiles, and the strategies that make Mahjong both challenging and exciting. No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity and a sense of fun! $100 for J members | $150 for non-members

  • Corresponding Angles: The Story or a Holocaust Survivor’s Son and a Liberator’s Daughter

    Join the Alabama Holocaust Education Center as Gail Cohn, the daughter of liberator Judge Aaron Cohn, and Reuben Sloan, the son of Holocaust survivor Itzel Slodowski, share a fascinating account of how two families learned that they shared a common history. Near the end of the war, Gail's father liberated Reuben's father from Ebensee, a subcamp of the infamous Mauthausen concentration camp. Years later, a chance meeting brought Gail and Reuben together, where they realized they shared a common history, but from different perspectives. On September 18th at 6:30 PM, Gail and Reuben will join the Alabama Holocaust Education Center to share their remarkable story. Keep an eye on our website; more details will be posted soon!

    If you are looking for community service that is quick and efficient, then you've come to the right place!  Join CJFS volunteers to *unload and pack groceries for Sunday SGI delivery day.  Please contact Caleigh@cjfsbham.org or 205-278-7101 to join the SGI signup genius email list. Corporations and groups welcome.  Typical volunteer need: 10-12 individuals.  Youth 6+ welcome. *Do you have a truck or large vehicle and want to help transport grocery boxes from Community Foodbank of Central Alabama (Homewood) to our CARES site (Cahaba Heights)?  Please let Caleigh know!
