Community Speaking Across Conflict with Resetting the Table (hosted by the JCRC)

Education

Resetting the Table (RTT)—a nationally-renowned organization that “equips and activates leaders from all corners of American life to transform toxic political divides and build a shared future”—is coming to Birmingham. The Birmingham Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Relations Council are hosting, and would love for YOU to apply for a seat at the table. Applications are due February 24th.  Who it’s for: We’re seeking an ideologically and politically diverse group of participants who are passionate about gaining, practicing, and sharing relationship- and community-building skills. Whether you’re wanting to connect with your children, parents, coworkers, friends or fellow Jews around Israel, US politics or something else, this workshop is for you. Resetting the Table’s celebrated workshop offers communication skill-building for charged conversations and a forum for dialogue across disagreement. Participants will exchange views and experiences, surface differences and commonalities, and practice engaging differences directly and constructively. The workshop builds community capacity to explore disagreements while strengthening relationships, trust, learning, and collaboration.

Hebrew School – TEE

Temple Emanu-El 2100 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL, United States
Education

4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Hebrew School As students begin 4th grade, we teach Hebrew through prayer. We focus on strengthening their decoding skills (mainly in 4th grade), Hebrew vocabulary within the prayers, and the themes, concepts, and meaning of different prayers during Tefillah on Sundays and Wednesdays. Our goal is to help develop our students’ capability to participate in Jewish prayer services. In 5th and 6th grade, students begin mastering the Erev Shabbat (Friday evening) and Shabbat morning prayers that they will chant for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah services.
