  • CJFS volunteers monthly at Community Foodbank of Central Alabama

    Community Food Bank

"See how food goes from donation to delivery by helping us sort and inspect donated food items, prepare the sorted product for our agency partners, and assemble food boxes for our programs." -Community Foodbank of Central Alabama Join CJFS volunteers every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 9-11am to help close the meal gap. "Over 246,000 of our neighbors and 68,000 children in central Alabama live in homes without access to adequate food (2023 numbers). That’s 1 in 5 children and 1 in 6 people who experience hunger regularly. Additionally, many children fall within the meal gap – they do not qualify for federal nutrition aid (SNAP), and they would fall through the cracks without help from the Community Food Bank."-https://feedingal.org/find-food-near-you/ CJFS and the Jewish community are ready to step it up and show our support to the foodbank and our neighbors who face food insecurity. Please contact caleigh@cjfsbham.org with interest and questions.
