About Jewish War Veterans (JWV)
Founded in 1896 as the “Hebrew Union Veterans Association,” JWV is the oldest continuously active Veterans organization in the United States.
JWV Post 608 in Birmingham was chartered in August, 1980.
Currently, Post 608 has members who have served from WWII to Iraq/Afghanistan.

Veterans Shabbat service and Kiddush at Temple Beth El.

Mission
- Maintains allegiance to USA
- Combats anti-Semitism and bigotry in the military
- Upholds the fair name of Jewish servicemen/women when unjustly assailed
- Gathers and preserves the records of patriotic service performed by men/women of the Jewish faith
- Honors the memories and shields the graves of Jewish veterans from neglect
