Research, Educate, Place, Advocate: a conversation with Joi Brown, Director of the Jefferson County Memorial Project

December 20, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

The Jefferson County Memorial Project is a grassroots coalition focused on documenting victims of racial terror lynchings in Jefferson County, educating the public on the importance on this history, placing markers at the sites of these events and advocating for racial justice in the present day. Joi Brown is a founding core coalition member of the JCMP, and former marketing manager for the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. She’ll be telling us more about the JCMP’s work in Birmingham—and how you can get involved in this important project.

This conversation is part of our ongoing programming series Tirdof: Civil Rights Past and Present. Reach out to mnorman@templebeth-el.net with questions.
