Movie-Talk Village: Bending the Arc

February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

For it’s February session the Movie-Talk Village encourages participants to go see the premiere of Bending the Arc – which includes features from our own Barbara Bonfield and Joshua Rothman!

Bending the Arc: Origins, will premiere on Sunday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham, 4300 Hampton Heights Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209.

Information about the event, the trailer, and the link to register are below.

The film is about the foundations of racism in Alabama, from the slave trade and the proliferation of slavery through the Civil War; Reconstruction; the violent backlash against emancipation; and the re-enslavement of African Americans through the convict leasing system. The film features descendants, Black and white, of people who were enslavers or who were enslaved on Alabama plantations.

Following the film, we will have a question-and-answer session with a panel of Black and white descendants featured in the film. Refreshments will be served. Tickets and parking are free, with reservations required.
