Event Navigation

A Black teenager bravely challenges the most powerful white supremacist in 1960s Louisiana with the help of a young Jewish attorney. Systemic racism meets its match in decisive courtroom battles, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and a lifelong friendship is born. A profound legacy, the friendship between Duncan and his young Jewish attorney, Richard Sobol, eventually rivals the outcome of their case.
We will be screening this film with refreshments. There will be a discussion panel afterward with the attorney and son of the defendant, Mr. Duncan.
This film is being brought to Birmingham through generous funding from the Birmingham Jewish Foundation.
