American Birthright

February 8 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

We’re rolling out the red carpet and you’re invited! You Belong in Birmingham, NextGen, Temple Beth El, and Temple Emanu-El are co-hosting a screening of American Birthright, and a LIVE Q&A with filmmaker Becky Tahel, at Sidewalk Cinemas. American Birthright is an autobiographical documentary about a young Israeli-American who sets out to answer the question “why be Jewish” after her sister marries outside of the faith. This is a movie for anyone who has ever grappled with faith and identity, or who wants to ask the big, bold questions about what it means to be a young Jewish person today.

Doors will open at 6:00 so that you can take advantage of Sidewalk’s full bar and a concession stand (unlimited popcorn on us!) and the movie will begin at 6:30 p.m, followed by a conversation with Becky herself. We’ll end the evening with a “l’chaim!” together and a further chance to mix, mingle, schmooze, and question.

We’re helping to coordinate babysitting! If you’d like us to connect you to babysitters or other parents looking to share childcare for the evening, contact Sarah at sarahwbjf.org. Tickets for this event are $10, get yours today:
